Development work has been carried out to replace synthetic glues and animal based gelatines often used in bird feeds and treats for small animals (hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, rats etc.). Andina’s Gum Acacia range provides a natural and more consumer friendly alternative for binding and coating.

Gum Acacia (Gum Arabic) is a natural hydrocolloid from plant origin – Acacia Senegal and Acacia Seyal, harvested by manual collection of the gum lumps after tapping the Acacia trees.  It has been widely used throughout the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors as a stabilizer, source of fibre and emulsifier agent for centuries. In the Animal Food and Pet Care sector, Gum Acacia can also be used to provide fibre enrichment in animal feed and nutritional supplements.
